It's not just safe and sensible, in some European countries it’s the law to carry certain items when driving. To avoid the risk of receiving an on the spot fine when driving in popular European destinations, such as France, Germany or Spain, make sure you have all the compulsory or recommended equipment, most of which are already contained in the AA Emergency Breakdown and Touring Kit or the AA Euro Travel Kit. If your vehicle is a lease vehicle and you are planning to take it abroad you will need to obtain a VE103 Document from your leasing company, you will need to request this form in good time as at peak times it may take longer for them to process the request. The VE103 document is required for the following countries: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.
